From the slopes of the vineyards of Palacio de Canedo, our wines are born with the authenticity of Bierzo, the patience of time and the care of a land that we know inch by inch.

In the heart of Bierzo and next to the centenary walls of the Palacio de Canedo is "the jewel in the crown": our winery.

A space where the past and the present come together to give life to wines that are a reflection of the vintage, the variety and the terroir.

Here, each vintage is a commitment to who we are. We cultivate our own plots organically, we pick by hand, we pamper each process. We do it as it was done before... but with an eye to what is to come.

In 1761, the books record the production of 170 miedros of good wine stored in the cellar of the Palace itself. Today, we follow that heritage with passion and judgment, expanding the family with brandies, Biermú, Xamprada and artisan vinegars.

Each of our wines is landscape, time, memory and bottled future.

The French are the creators of the idea of château wines. Wines associated with a terroir, with a winery for generations, that produce unique bottles every year. This is the idea that Canedo Palace has maintained since its origin: to respect nature without chemical products or fertilizers so that each harvest is different, marks the character of the weather year and stands up for itself once uncorked.

In the vineyards surrounding the Palace and on the slopes between Canedo and Campelo, which reach up to 800m altitude, with slopes of up to 28%, the native varieties Mencía and Godello and the foreign Chardonnay are cultivated.

All our vineyards are farmed organically, producing our own compost, without the use of systemic products or herbicides. These are not fads, it is an absolute belief from the beginning: to take care and respect our land...

For more than twenty years,José Manuel Ferreira has managed each harvest with the respect and humility of someone who knows that wine begins at the vine. His philosophy fits perfectly with that of the house: care and vigilance with minimal intervention, allowing the varieties to express themselves with authenticity and the winery to have its own personality.

The result is wines that need no disguise:fresh, clean, well-structured and faithful to the variety, the climate of each year and the terroir from which they are born. Wines that taste of Bierzo.

More than a winemaker, Ferreira is the guardian of a way of doing things: with sense, with delicacy and with an eye on respect for the land.

Mencia wines, a declaration of principles

Fresh, frank, elegant and with the character of our hillsides.

Mencia is the variety with which we elaborate all our red wines. In our vineyards they grow at their own pace, facing the sun from the moment they are born until the sun sets and with excellent aeration.

The grapes are harvested by hand, respecting the cycles of the land. And in the winery, we let it speak. The result: fruity, fresh reds with soul and the elegance of the natural.

Godello wines, the white light of the Bierzo region

Mineral, expressive and with a soul of fresh fruit.

At Canedo, Godello is grown at high altitude, where the mild climate and poor soils bring out the best in this variety. We ferment cold to preserve its freshness and add nothing to distract from its essence. These are white wines with volume.

Our Xamprada is the sparkling wine of Bierzo: fresh, elegant and proud of its origin.

Aged on lees and produced by the champenoise method for more than 36 months, it combines the best of the natural with the sparkle of the festive. It needs no occasion: it creates it.

Liquors distilling origin

The liquid essence of Bierzo is born from the bagasse.

Our orujos and liqueurs are elaborated with patience, in traditional alquitara and without artifice. Each sip keeps the echo of the grape harvest, the memory of the land and the authentic flavor of what is well done.

A home recipe, with the soul of an apothecary and the heart of a winery.
